TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Drivers in Tampa Bay may notice they are saving money at the pump this week. According to AAA, the current average price for a gallon of regular gas is down to $2.18 in the Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater area, as of Tuesday, Sept. 1. That is down seven cents from just one week ago and 23 cents from one month ago.
In the Bradenton/Sarasota area the average price for a gallon of gas is a little higher, at $2.26, but also down seven cents from one week ago and down 25 cents from one month ago. Florida prices run cheaper than the national average for a gallon of gas, which is currently at $2.45 per gallon. All prices are about one dollar cheaper than they were this time last year.
